Hey there! I have been doing some research on some great ideas in marketing using Foursquare and I wanted to share them with you. I read this great article over at seo-hacker.com and along with my research, I wanted to put a good spin on it for car dealerships. Here’s a few I came up with. Foursquare can be great use for automotive internet marketing and gaining free advertising. I don’t want to go into details on Foursquare itself, but claim and set your profile up. While search engine optimization (seo) isn’t really friendly with Foursquare in its results, it is good etiquette and a benefit to have your keywords in your profile.
So now that you optimized your Foursquare account for your dealership, you want to add friends to your foursquare account to help in your car dealer marketing online. Why? As the internet continues to evolve, we want to be more social with our direct audience. More and more people are searching online and doing reviews before visiting dealerships. It’s best to plant a seed and always stay on someone’s mind.
Speaking of adding friends, the best thing you can do to help your car dealership marketing is to check in every day and to add tips. By checking in, you continue the idea of staying in someone’s mind and by adding tips, you can talk about incentives, specials, or anything that may be of note.
And the last great way to grow your leads and clientele via Foursquare, use Foursquare to grow your auto sales online by having incentives and rewards for visitors who “check in” and post the “check in” to their wall or tweet it. Anything is imaginable… free service checkup, $100 off of the car purchase price, or even a coupon to a local store. This car sales marketing tactic is doing wonders for those who are using it already as their ROI is significantly higher than “shotgun blast” advertising.

An overwhelming number of dealers have requested the ability to collect trade-in data from both prospective customers and individuals looking to sell or trade their vehicles.

Auto Dealers have been forced to utilize unconventional methods to acquire preowned vehicles to fill their lots. The auctions are packed with dealers competing for the same vehicle driving preowned inventory prices high. Dealers need to take the steps necessary to procure trade-ins from across their demographic area.

This intuitive form will collect data (Year, Make Model, Mileage and Condition) about the prospects trade. There are additional text entry boxes for Name, Phone and Email address. (See below)

Every ad posted to either craigslist or backpage.com includes their own VSLP (Vehicle-Specific Landing Pages or simply just Landing Pages). These custom landing pages will scrape traffic off of the classified portal and bring customers directly to the vehicle’s specific page. Each VSLP includes multiple calls to action to increase leads for dealers, including:

  • Links to dealership website dealership phone numbers contact dealer forms and full analytics
  • Links to all other VSLP’s (the dealer’s entire inventory).

Vehicle specific landing pages have been proven to increase dealership website traffic in excess of 28% – making this feature a great addition to the product.

Craigslist+ integrates a new user user-friendly interface that internalizes the Craigslist functions and ultimately reduces the time necessary to manage your Craigslist advertisements.

Find the vehicle you want to post, hover over the Select an action menu, and select Post to Craigslist. This will open the ad preparation page.

From this page, you can do the following:

  • Select your preferred template
  • Click the Edit Details link to change the vehicle details
  • Modify the Craigslist ad title
  • Change the Craigslist market for the post
  • Select preferred banner (works only for banner supported templates)
  • Select photo count

To begin the actual posting process, Click the Post To Craigslist button.

The first time you post to Craigslist using this system, the application will prompt you for permission to run the java applet. Check the Always trust content and then click Run. By checking the “Always trust” box, it should bypass this prompt in the future and immediately begin the actual posting process.

Once the posting process begins, a yellow progress bar will appear. On the first post you attempt, if will ask you to login with your Craigslist account credentials. Enter that information and click Login.

At the end of this process, you will be prompted to enter in the captcha code to finalize the post.

When the post is complete, you will be returned to the main inventory page and will notice it says “Craigslist Post Successful“.

Motorcycles by Dealer

Motorcycle dealers can now exhale a little as Craigslist has added a Motorcycles/Scooters by Dealer category earlier this week. While the section “Motorcycles” existed before, many dealerships had experienced problems of being flagged by some in the Craigslist community who felt only private sellers should post bikes for sale. The new category allows dealers to list their inventory without this worry.

As a result of this change on Craigslist, potential buyers can now refine their search for motorcycles (or scooters) by clicking tabs at the top of Craigslist. Users can chose to display only motorcycles by private owners, only those for sale by dealers, or both.

LotVantage users also now have the option within the software to post their motorcycles to the new “Motorcycles by Dealer” sub-section.
